YRBS Advisory Committee Member moderates “Black Mental Health Matters” by The City Club of Cleveland

On Tuesday, June 16th, The City Club of Cleveland hosted a forum called “Black Mental Health Matters”. The session was moderated by Dr. Lisa Ramirez, Ph.D., ABPP, who is the Director of Community and Behavioral Health at the MetroHealth System and is a YRBS Advisory Committee Member at the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods. During the forum, Dr. Ramirez prompted panelists with questions using the 2019 YRBS data as a foundation. For example she stated “ We have new data from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey from our prevention health partners over at Case showing us that Black youth are more likely to have attempted suicide in the last 12 months than their white counterparts. What is the stress that is happening in black youths lives that is leading to this sense of despair and suicide attempts?”
